Why should I affiliate with Gamma Sigma Sigma?
Gamma Sigma Sigma gives you the opportunity to:
...interact with individuals across the country who share similar interests, ideals, and goals.

...exchange service projects and ideals about membership development, common interests, and chapter leadership opportunities.

...benefit from the expertise of specialists in service work and project development.

...participate in national conventions and conferences where members exchange ideas for improvement and expansion of service to school, community, and the nation.

...work with the many national volunteer organizations with whom Gamma Sigma Sigma has developed ties.

Why is there a period of pledgeship before activation?
The pledgeship is a period of training for active membership when the pledge learns the purpose and ideals of the sorority, as well as how the national organization functions. It gives each prospective member an opportunity to prove unselfish interest in serving others. During this period the pledge proves their interest and ability as a new member by participating in the activities of the chapter.

How does one become a pledge?
Any duly enrolled student who wishes to serve others and is in academic good standing is eligible to be a member in Gamma Sigma Sigma regardless of race and creed.

One becomes a pledge by expressing a desire to serve and become a member of Gamma Sigma Sigma. Each candidate for membership must have a desire to render service to others and to fulfill the requirements set forth by the college or university for membership in any organization.

Gamma Sigma Sigma welcomes members of other organizations, including social sororities, into its membership.

Do chapters offer social activities for members?
Yes! In conjunction with its service emphasis the sorority encourages social activities which can foster fellowship. These activities may be combined with service projects. Local chapters sponsor parties, dances, family banquets, picnics, teas, and retreats, among other activities. These special events strengthen the bonds of friendship.

Does Gamma Sigma Sigma have alumnae activities?
Yes! Don't worry about giving up the benefits of membership after you graduate...your local alumnae group will allow you to continue your participation in every aspect of sorority life, including service projects and social activities.

Alumnae chapters may advise undergraduate chapters, carry out joint projects, and aid in the expansion of the sorority. As a member of an alumnae chapter, you will be able to meet other members in your area.

If you are not able to participate in an alumnae chapter, you can still be a part of all sorority functions as an alumna-at-large. Alumnae-at-large continue their service to the community and nation as individuals.
